Gilded Pear Gallery

I just shipped off some work to Gilded Pear Gallery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  My friend, Mary Zeran, referred me to it, and we're hoping it will be a good fit.  Mary has a show there opening on December 6.  I send four of my Shapes pieces, several other 10"x10" pieces, two of my new 12"x12" grids, and a whole mess of my 4"x4" pieces.  I was not sure how to title the new 12"x12" grids, but I realized that they are a continuation of the edge and atmosphere explorations I did in a series last spring, called "Edge Location".  So they are part of that series now.

Here are my pieces laid out on a table, all mounted to wood panel and varnished. The 10"x10" pieces are on 1-5/8" deep panel, and the two 12"x12"s are on 3/4" deep panel.

Here are the two 12"x12" grids, "Edge Location #7" and "Edge Location #8", standing up.

This is how I put the hanging wire on panel pieces.  With the wire mounted to the inside of the panel border, the piece hangs flush to the wall.

I am in process of uploading new work to my Fine Art America gallery, so more of it is available as prints.  At Fine Art America, you can choose the size and materials of your print.

  2. Beautiful work! I enjoyed seeing your video on how you mounted your collage on wood panels. Now, a question...how do you varnish your work?

  4. Hello Jane! Thank you for the nice mention. To say that I am excited to see your work in person is an understatement! As we all know, nothing compares to seeing up close and personal.

    Congratulations! Mary

  5. Jane: Love these! Wow! I signed up for Fineartamerica to begin to showcase my work for prints. As a result of the Dynamic Composition class with you! I am finding the process of photographing for reprints to be daunting. If you have any advice I would so appreciate your view on it. I've researched what others have to say, but I find you often have an effective no nonsense approach that is elegant. I may be asking for a lot...if so, please consider a blog entry, a class, a youtube, or whatever makes sense for you. Thank you for all that you share!

    1. I scan everything. I'm only showing work on FAA that is small enough to scan, usually in two or four parts. Then I assemble the images in Photoshop. It takes a bit of time, for sure. If I were to upload larger works I would have them professionally photographed.

  6. Another gorgeous set of paintings Jane. I do love the name Edge Locations. It even draws my eye first to one edge and then the other. I especially enjoy the paintings are are mainly horizontal as they really embrace the name. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I also really appreciated the hanger tip. I've been framing for years and never thought of that and have been frustrated when frames do not lie flat on the wall. You just solved that for me. Thanks!!
