Fiber Arts Show

Last night I went to the opening of a fiber arts show called "The Uncommon Thread" at Vermont Institute of Contemporary Art.  It totally renewed my passion for fabric and stitch, which has been waning over the last few years.  I knew several of the artists represented in the show from an encaustic workshop I took last January through North Country Studio Workshops.  These included Sandy Gregg, Marilyn Gillis, and Wen Redmond.  Great to see Sandy and Marilyn there, and also to meet Elizabeth (Betsy) Fram, whose work was breathtaking.  I also particularly liked the work of Karen Kamenetzky.

Here are a few samples:

Betsy Fram

Karen Kamenetzky

Marilyn Gillis

Sandy Gregg

Wen Redmond

If you are anywhere near Chester, Vermont, check out the show.  It is up through October 21.

  1. Looks like a great show. Wen Redmond is local to my area and I was fortunate enough to win the blue ribbon in a fiber show she judged, Her written comments were worth more to me than the prize. It is amazing how many talented people there are out there and each one so very different and unique. Hooray for making art. Thanks for sharing this show.

  2. Not surprising I like all of the pieces you have shown. The collage elements are beautiful in Fram's piece and Wen's piece is so moody and mysterious I love it.

Welcome back to Vermont! Waiting here about CREATE. :) I just looked at Kamenetksy's work. Gorgeous. Love the organic rock, pod/seed shapes. Not
    surprising eh?

    1. Hi Debbie. I didn't take any photos at the show; these ones are from the participants' web sites. I hope SOMEONE posts pix of the gallery. It is well worth seeing! Thanks for your comment.
