Back From My Workshop

With Karen Rosasco at the Arts Center Old Forge, in the Adirondacks. I had an absolutely fabulous time and learned so much from Karen that I need at least a year to assimilate it. We had three intense days of painting and collage, learning some techniques, but mostly focusing on composition and finishing, or "solving" (as Karen puts it), our pieces. To me, that is where the rubber meets the road - finishing a piece, making it work. I have lots and lots of practice ahead of me, and I look forward to every minute of it. Here are a few pieces I did in the workshop. Anyone have suggestions for titles?

  1. I REALLY like these pieces. Not much help on titles though the top one suggests a mobile to me. Would have loved to attend this workshop. I'll keep an eye/ear open for Karen.

  4. The paintings are wonderful. That last of the three you posted reminds me of a hearth and three pieces of ripe fruit (even if it is not intended to be representational at all!). Suggests a warmth and ripeness.

    Thank you for sharing.

  5. Hi Jane! I found your book Collage with Color about 14 months ago not much after I found Kelly Rae's Taking Flight. Both books has inspired me so much and finally I had to accept this is the right path for me. I can connect with you because I am a ceramist, too. Well before that I am an Industrial Engineer and Management professor. I love you book. I have learned so much. Now I consider myself a ceramist and mixed media artist. Recently after taking Kelly's ecourse I found that I am a Product Designer. This discovery answered me a lot of questions about the things I wanted to make in ceramics. Love to found your blog. After learning from your book, I use my own paper designs for my collage paintings. I wish I coud take a course with you. I am so inspired and gratefull to be in this creative journey. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and for the passion you put in it. I will let my 699 fellow "flyers" (took Kally's course) about you! You are more thanwelcome to visit my blog. Since I have to sign with google and mine is wordpress I will writr it right here: http://elizabethglz.com

    Enjoy the ride:
