Student Work from Online Classes

I am running two online classes - Extreme Composition, and Unlocking the Secrets of Color - simultaneously now, and notice some pretty awesome work regarding color.  In the color class we've done color grids and color collages.  In Extreme Composition we're doing color fields.  Take a look:

These are all from students, posted anonymously.  Pleas don't re-post, as they will turn up looking as if they are my work, and I don't take credit for them.

I've been thinking of offering a more advanced color class online - Advanced Color Studies - in which we go deep into color, beyond basic color theory/practice and color schemes.  Unlocking the Secrets of Color will be available as a downloadable class sometime this fall, so this is the last time I'm offering it in the interactive format.  Any ideas?  Any interest in an advanced class?  I have loads of ideas for it, but would love to hear yours.

  2. Would love an advanced color class, particularly with layering techniques, enhancing depth; maybe some techniques which create tension with color.

  3. I would like an advanced class, as long as we don't have to write our own lessons!

  8. Jane, I would definitely sign up. I have always avoided saturated color and gone to earth tones and neutralized colors - sometimes to the point of "mud". I am still struggling with this. But the online classes are pushing me in a new direction....albeit SLOWLY. I am getting excited about the prospect of an advanced course to keep PUSHING AHEAD. Lynn B.

  9. I would like to take the class. Would I need to have taken the first class (the one above) first? The pieces above are wonderful! Love those colors!!

  10. Yes Jane, I'd be interested in an advanced color class - especially interested in mixing colors, creating unusual color combinations and identifying an individualized 'personal palette'. I know you'll come up with many challenging explorations for us. Sounds interesting. Thank you.

  12. Something I'm currently struggling with in acrylic which is so highly pigmented and produces saturated color is balancing the level of intensity and saturation, pure color and muted color to bring impact without over doing color intensity. Don't know if you include this in a color course. I so appreciate your generosity in this blog and your videos.

  15. I spend a lot of time on color, filling notebooks with color schemes. It's been hard to find fellow artists interested in this--everyone just wants to start the painting! So I would love to explore new ideas in a class.
