Kitchen Table Art WORKSHOP!

Coming up, on October 5, I am teaching a one-day workshop on Kitchen Table Art. You can see a previous post about Kitchen Table Art here. It's basically art that you can do at the kitchen table, or in a café, or at the beach, or a picnic table, or in your hotel room. No wet paint or brushes to clean up. It's like drawing with dry media, but there are so many more options.

You can see details about the workshop here. It is in Dorset, Vermont, offered by Green Mountain Academy of Lifelong Learning.

Here is a new video on Kitchen Table Art:

Gualala Arts

Here are some pix from my workshop "Abstract Painting: Composition and Contrast" at Gualala Arts in Gualala, CA. I have never been to this part of California before, so I'm excited to be here.

In addition to a very spacious studio, there are numerous outdoor facilities including this pizza oven and outdoor kitchen.

Trails through the woods lead down to the Gualala River, and Gualala River Redwood Park is right down the road.

Here are a few shots of student work in process:

And here are a couple of fabulous ideas:
To keep your brushes clean, keep a sponge soaked in alcohol in a plastic container. Get the main guck off your brush with a paper towel, rinse in H2O, then wipe thoroughly on the sponge.

If there is a materials fee for the class (in this case, $10, in cash), tape it to a bar of really fabulous dark chocolate before handing it to the teacher. That way the teacher is happier, and she can also choose to share the chocolate with the class occasionally. Studies show that the presence of very good dark chocolate in the studio reduces the incidence of meltdowns and crying jags among the workshop participants.
