Studio Notes

Here are a few more of the all-over "atmosphere" piece I've been working on, others of which I posted last week. I really like the all-over subtle, low-contrast pieces, but it's definitely out of my comfort zone.  I allowed myself to wander back into familiar territory with the shapes.

Red on Red, 9"x12"
Burnt Orange and Brown, 9"x12"

Aqua and Rust, 9"x12"

Red Rocks, 9"x12"

Blue Stone, 9"x12"

Another Cliff Face, 9"x12"
The pieces below are a few of a series I've been working on this winter.  They are 20"x20" on paper.

This is not finished.

This one needs to sit for a while.
Thanks for visiting!

  3. I'm loving the direction you are heading. Still you...but more complex.

  4. Lovely colours and interesting work. I do wonder how you know when something is finished! Do you put in the last brush-stroke and say "That's it", or do you need to live with it for a while?

    1. That is the perennial question. It varies a lot. Sometimes a piece comes together definitively, sometimes it has to sit, sometimes it never gets finished.

  6. I love the first two in the "winter work" series -- especially the one with the trees on fire rising out of the ice. Beautiful. Hope you are staying reasonably warm.

I have had some spam comments lately, advertising of stupid stuff. So I am moderating comments until I can figure out a better way to prevent spam. THANKS!
