bird ornaments

Here are just a couple of the bird ornaments I've been working on. They are made with foam core, which is collaged with my hand-painted papers. Then I attach the feathers, feet, head gear, and a hanging mechanism. I teach a workshop in foam core collage, and this is one the menu of projects.

  3. Thanks, Joni aka Jett. I made a bunch of them and they will be one one of the projects in my next book (which I am working on now) due out in spring of 2011. A fine excuse to use foofy feathers and glitzy beads!

  4. These are so much fun - beautiful colors and both are such cute characters. I'm adding you to my blog roll so I can make sure to return :)

  5. Ohhh, your birdies are adorable! I collect birds for my art studio christmas tree. I might have to make some like this! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Everything in this studio is usually trial and error. We're not very patient in trying techniques by instructions. We just wing it. Kind of how I live life too! lol Glad to meet you. I'll be back to see more of your work. I just recently ordered your book from the library, before I knew you. Can't wait for it to show up. Congrats on being published.

  6. THANKS!! Megan and Contessa. A real pleasure to stop by both of your blogs. The birdies are really fun. I did them in foam core, but they could also be done in paper, card board, fabric, etc. wood. whatever. I will check back with both of your blogs!
