WARM COLORS for a Cold Winter

Oh dear!  It has been cold cold cold here for weeks, and probably many of us in the Northeast are ready for a change.   So I thought I'd try a little color therapy, making a piece using warm cozy colors.  The other inspiration is that I've always wanted to use this song, "Oh Dear", by Anne Janelle, in one of my videos.  It's on her CD "So Long at the Fair".

    Oh so beautiful - those are my favourite colours and that pop of orangy/yellow crayon writing against the red and purple just sings!

      12"x12". Pyrrole red, Quin Magenta, Quin Gold... Pyrrole orange, Diarilyde Yellow. A little white mixed w/ quin magenta; a little quin burnt orange. I think that's it.

    What a nice treat in a cold cold winter. Absolutely love watching you make art. Would you please post it again when you finish with that piece? Very curious where it will lead you or you will lead it to? Thanks so much for sharing. It has certainly warmed me up. ;-)
    By the way, did you prime your paper before you put the paint down? If yes, what with? Thank you!

      Nope. This piece is not going anywhere; it's done. I don't prime my paper. Glad it warmed you up!

    Thanks for this. Loved watching you paint and the warmth of the final piece is, well, warming! I'm curious about your materials: acrylic paint, yes? And the crayons? From a cold but bright and sunny Monday morning in London, UK.

    I'm pretty sure the crayons are Caran D'arche Neocolor II watersoluble crayons.

    It is windy and humid here in Sydney but still quite a nice day. Thank you for the video. It is always like receiving a sunrise gift when there is a new video from you to inspire.

    I couldn't see the video when I first read this. I'm glad I came back. Paper and paint are not my usual art media, but my mom left me a room full of them, so I really appreciate seeing what others do. I guess I' m a pretty literal person, too. I see this piece as a still life in front of a window. But even if I didn't see images I recognize, I love the colors of this one.
